a lovely little date night

the other night
bennett and i went on a little date to the franklin mercantile
(one of our favorite restaurants and where we had our rehearsal dinner)
and i had the most delicious dinner of my life.
seriously.
i usually don't care much about food
but this meal....
let me just tell you.

we had a bottle of my favorite white wine
and started off with bruschetta.
then i had grilled asparagus
port glazed salmon
sweet potato cakes
and for dessert, chocolate cake.

i mean, i was freaking out.
bennett couldn't even believe it...
i cleaned my plate!
that never happens.
a few bites into it,
i was already getting sad because i knew it would all be over soon.

after dinner
we stopped by the national folk festival for a bit.
benn grabbed a beer
and me, a glass of wine
and we happened to run into a couple friends and their adorable baby
which was a lovely surprise
(although it made my baby fever even worse...)

it was definitely a date night i'll always remember.
so simple and perfect.

**confession. i used bennett's iphone to take the instagram photos. i PROMISE they will rarely show up on here. please don't hate me...**

oh, september

holy cannoli
it's september!
can you believe it?

the past few days have been so wonderful.
i have eaten amazing food
seen incredible movies
and spent every minute with my favorite husband.

i can't really explain it,
but it has been like therapy for me.
something about having a long weekend
staying in a different house
(we're house-sitting for my parents)
spending the nights talking about what we want,
what we really want,
for our lives and our future
and knowing autumn is on its way
has made me feel like a new person
and i am
so
incredibly
happy.

here's to a brand new month...

little things...

- autumn makes me happier than most things.

- i worry. about everything.
- i really wish i didn't worry so much.
- i spend more time on pinterest than i should probably admit.
- i can't wait to have babies and be a mama.
- going on walks at radnor lake is my therapy.
- this movie is one of my absolute favorites.
- i walked down the aisle to this song at my wedding.
- change frightens the daylights out of me.

sunday night movie in the park

by the time sunday evening rolled around

i desperately wanted to get out of the house
after being cooped up indoors all weekend thanks to a sore throat and fever.
i still wasn't feeling great
so bennett and i decided to head over to east nashville
to catch an outdoor movie.
i think it was just what the doctor ordered
because by the next day i was feeling better.

we brought a blanket
and a box of kleenex (my new best friend)
and watched the princess bride
one of bennett's all time favorite movies.
it was so relaxing and we'll definitely be going back for the next movie.

plus, they had free popcorn and popsicles
and locally brewed beer for $5.
i mean come on...
how else would you want to spend your sunday evening?

sick

i've been sick in bed all weekend
thanks to a nasty little bug, it seems.

luckily i have the best of husbands to take care of me
and bake me cookies
and rub my back at 3 in the morning
when i have to blow my nose again so i can breathe.

but on a better note i think autumn is almost here.
i can feel it.
i can smell it.
oh, how i love autumn.
it can't come soon enough.
